The Parking Deck at Harrison Square almost took a hit Thursday when construction workers dug into a gas main.  This seems to be a growing epidemic in the Fort as this past year has seen two such strikes, one of which was in the Ardmore/Taylor Avenue area.  Those didn’t result in fire, although this one did shooting flames 20 to 30 feet in the air for approximately an hour.  These can be noisy events as the natural gas rushes out of the pipeline break.  Luckily, no one was injured and the only damage appears to be in the surrounding dirt of the structure.  Unluckily, I was at work during the break and didn’t have a chance to photograph the incidence.
