SCAN Duck Race Saturday!

20th Anniversary SCAN Duck Race

Saturday, June 21, 2008, the 20th Annual SCAN Duck Race will be held on the St. Joesph River in Johnny Appleseed Park.  If you haven’t purchased your Duck yet, they cost $5 each and are available at numerous locations around the City.  However, some of the locations have turned their materials into the SCAN office so you might want to check with them first.  If all else fails, you may purchase them at the SCAN office on the Northwest corner of the Main Street and Fairfield Avenue intersection.    You may also call them at 260-421-5000.

This year’s goal is to raise $125,000 from the race.  They are currently just under $110,000 leaving $15,000 to go.  Since the first race, the annual fund raiser has brought in more than $1.2 Million.  The official kick off for the race was held on Friday, May 9, 2008.  This saw a new event called the Greater Fort Wayne Putting Championship held at River City Links.

The Grand Prize for the race on Saturday is $5,000 from Weigand Construction and second place will receive $1,500 from Manpower.  In addition, the next 18 finishers will receive prizes as well, with none having a value of less than $100.  You do not need to be present to win.  The fun on Saturday kicks off at 10:00 AM with games for the kids.  The race will begin by 11:30 AM.
