One of the things mentioned in last night’s city council meeting was the property along Harrison Street that contains the old Wabash Freight Depot. It was mentioned that the Railroad is concerned about the structure and acknowledges the need for something to be done. I am wondering if a third party could work out a lease for the property with the Railroad for some sort of development. It would be an interesting spot for housing or nightclub or farmer’s market or some type of open air market. Problem is, the structure is probably not sound at this point or would need many thousands of dollars to bring it up to code and inhabitable standards. I don’t think it’s been used since the late 70s or 80s. Anyway, enjoy the photos. As you can see, the vegetation has grown up around the structure and that’s never good news for the structure in question. Read the post and listen to the sound clip from last night’s meeting.
